About Checked Into Life

Checked Into Life is a blog about leaving our high-tech jobs and making a major life change. Maybe we were the typical family in the Silicon Valley – working long hours, traveling a lot, and feeling stressed. We realized that we were missing something, and delaying our joy, thinking we’d take it in retirement. So, we decided to take a break for a couple of years to live a simpler life while having more time for ourselves.

How did we arrive at the decision to take a long sabbatical while putting our careers on hold? Could we manage to survive and thrive in a foreign country? Follow our journey as we move from California to Spain, start a new life in Valencia, learn the local language and customs, and travel throughout Europe.
